SB: That’s another hard question...since I’m
always pretty uncomfortable around white people with acoustic guitars. Its
kind of a downward spiral...eventually they’ll start singing country
music and chewing tobacco... and that’s just a hop and a
skip from full-blown racism and lynch mobbery.
Isn’t this pod cast thing just a fad?
JJ: Pod casts are the wave of the future it’s the internet
that’s a fad.
SB: Yes; but hopefully a lucrative one.
DTD: Look, as long as it allows me to sell out, I don’t care. Seriously
though, more and more people are pod casting, and I hope it continues that
way. It’s a great tool for free press. Also, the Tampa Bay area is the
#2 market for pod cast listeners, so we started in the right area at least.
Let’s hope we last longer than Pet Rocks and Pogs.
Which of you is the funniest?
JJ: I think I’m the funniest but everyone has to laugh more
at Stuey B’s jokes
because he’s black.
SB: I’m actually the funniest one, but a lot of the time people laugh
at
David the Day out of pity. It’s quite sad actually.
DTD: Me.
Have you had the chicken salad sandwich from Dunedin’s
Quick Nick’s?
JJ: I have not had one but I would be willing to try it out and have
them sponsor the show (The Something Planet Pod cast is brought to you by
Chicken salad sandwiches at Quick Nicks).
What would you do for a Klondike Bar?
SB: The real question is; What wouldn’t I do for a Klondike
bar?
What’s next for the Something Planet Crew?
DTD: We’ve got a new Web site in the works that will allow
us to post tons of media in the form of podcasts, videos, blogs, events, etc.
It’s going to be more geared towards keeping people on the site longer
and interacting with us.
SB: Well, in all seriousness, we want to put on some more shows, shoot some
more videos, get the pod cast our there to more listeners, expand our website
and start making some money. It’s either that or John J’s gonna
have to start hooking again...and I don’t think anyone wants to see
that.

Something Planet is a music pod cast that features interviews and performances from local bands and singer songwriters, along with some various social commentary. The main voices behind Something Planet are (listed in order of Stick’s favorite to least favorite), Stuey B, David the Day, Endless Mike and John J. (I’m pretty sure the J. stands for jerk). They usually mix in a heaping portion of humor with each pod cast. They also produce and write comedy style videos for the YouTube crowd. In addition, I only listed Stuey B first because he’s black and I don’t want to come off as a racist.
So what is the mission of Something Planet?
JJ: I think Something Planet’s mission is to provide people
with a free easy-to-get alternative to staring at the wall, but my personal
mission within Something Planet is to somehow make money and then screw all
the other guys out of it.
DTD: To sell out for as much money as humanly possible.
SB: To one day, rule the world.
Who have your favorite guests been?
DTD: Any member of The Stick Martin Show who isn’t named after
a piece of a tree limb, (Stick, Twig, Branch, etc.) The guys from City Lights
were pretty awesome too.
JJ: My favorites have been in this order: Badda Skat, Soulfound, Brook Pridemore,
Chelsey Toby, and City Lights with Stick Martin being my least favorite (he
should change his name to Dick Martin).
SB: That’s a hard question to answer because all of our guests have
been great in their own unique ways. The one who I was most physically attracted
to would have to be Stick Martin. Those eyes...
Who was the most uncomfortable interviewee?
JJ: The Band Tragedy Hero was pretty uncomfortable. I didn’t
realize they were a Christian Band and I made a comment about church being
a great place to get laid but I didn’t use such clean language.
DTD: Tragedy Hero: Everything was going fine until we started talking about
going to
church to pick up girls. Turns out, they’re kind of a Christian band,
so it was un-
comfortable after we picked up on that vibe. Sorry, guys!
